The anticipation for Destiny 2's Season 17 is reaching a fever pitch, with Bungie maintaining a veil of secrecy over the season's official name and core narrative details. A New Endgame Challenge Awaits: The Season 17 Dungeon

The headline revelation is the confirmation of a brand-new dungeon, slated for release on Friday, May 27. While its enigmatic title and setting remain undisclosed, Bungie has provided crucial details for Guardians eager to test their mettle. The activity will launch with a recommended Power level of 1550. In a departure from previous schedules, the formidable Master difficulty variant will be available on the same day, presenting an immediate, heightened challenge for fireteams, though its specific requirements are being kept under wraps as a surprise.

Access to this new pinnacle experience is gated behind ownership of The Witch Queen Digital Deluxe Edition. However, Bungie has introduced a new Dungeon Key, purchasable for 2000 Silver (approximately $20) from the Eververse store, granting entry to players who own the standard edition of the expansion.

The dungeon promises a substantial loot pool to incentivize repeated runs:

  • Armor: A complete, class-specific armor set for Titans, Warlocks, and Hunters.

  • Weapons: Four new Legendary weapons, two reprised Legendary weapons, and one Exotic weapon complete with its catalyst.

  • Cosmetics: An assortment of rewards including a vehicle (either a ship or a sparrow) and two Legendary emblems.

Guardians Rejoice: Expanded Vault Space and Streamlined Power Grind

Responding to years of player feedback, Bungie is finally granting a highly requested feature: more Vault space. An additional 100 slots will be added, providing much-needed relief for collectors and those hoarding Deepsight Resonance weapons for crafting patterns. This expansion, while modest, addresses a persistent pain point in the player inventory management experience.

Furthermore, the seasonal Power grind is being significantly reduced. The Power level caps for Season 17 will see only a minimal increase:

Cap Type New Power Level Increase from Previous Season
Soft Cap 1510 +10
Power Cap 1560 +10
Hard (Pinnacle) Cap 1570 +10

This adjustment means Guardians can reach the powerful and pinnacle reward tiers more swiftly, allowing them to focus on engaging with new content rather than repetitive Power leveling activities.

Trials Refresh and Solstice Returns

The TWAB also showcased the new armor sets coming to the Trials of Osiris competitive mode in Season 17. These sets continue the mode's tradition of offering prestigious, visually distinct rewards for PvP accomplishments.

Additionally, the annual Solstice of Heroes event is receiving a major overhaul for 2026, now rebranded simply as "Solstice." The event will feature:

  • A new activity set within the European Aerial Zone.

  • A fresh suite of cosmetic rewards, including a new shader, Ghost shells, emotes, and a ship.

  • The event card preview hints at a refined progression system for earning these festive items.

Bungie's Stance Beyond the Game

Outside of gameplay announcements, Bungie used the platform to address broader community and societal matters. The studio issued a statement expressing support for the families affected by tragic events, aligning with its ongoing commitment to social responsibility. Furthermore, Bungie is engaging the creative community by hosting a cosplay contest in collaboration with several content creators, fostering player expression and celebration of the Destiny universe.

Season 17 of Destiny 2 is shaping up to be a season of substantive additions, blending a mysterious new dungeon, meaningful quality-of-life improvements like vault space, and the revival of a classic event. With a lighter Power grind, Guardians can dive straight into the new challenges and celebrations when the season launches.
