Alright, fellow Guardians, let's talk about Week 4 of Destiny 2's Season of the Haunted. If you're like me, you've been grinding through the Bound in Sorrow questline, and this week is all about getting Commander Zavala to face his personal Nightmare. Spoiler alert: the big blue guy doesn't have it easy. But don't sweat it—I've got your back. Here's how I tackled the Week 4 quest, step by step, with a few pro tips thrown in for good measure.

A Guardian facing the Derelict Leviathan's nightmare-infested underbelly

First things first, you need another Bound Presence. Head to the HELM and chat with Eris Morn. She'll point you toward the Derelict Leviathan for a tier-three Nightmare Containment Ritual. This is a public event, so rally up with some randoms or bring your fireteam. Once you finish, interact with the relic at the end and spend 500 Vestiges of Dread to snag that Bound Presence. Easy peasy, right? Well, the grind is real, but it's nothing a little patience can't handle.

Here's a quick checklist so you don't get lost:

Step What to Do Where
1 Talk to Eris Morn HELM
2 Complete tier-3 Nightmare Containment Derelict Leviathan
3 Interact with relic (spend 500 Vestiges) Derelict Leviathan
4 Launch Sever – Forgiveness Moon destination
5 Finish the activity and talk to Zavala HELM
6 Report to Eris at Crown of Sorrow Derelict Leviathan

Once you've got your Bound Presence, head to the Moon and launch the Sever – Forgiveness activity. Now, if you ran Week 3, you'll recognize the area—it's the same underbelly of the Leviathan. But this time, the electrical field at the start is still disabled from your last visit. Nice, right? No shocking surprises.

The first obstacle? A locked door. You need a wrench, and it's sitting on the opposite side of the center room. I'll be honest, my first run I spent a solid five minutes scratching my head before I realized the wrench was behind me. Don't be like me. Grab that wrench, open the door, and get ready for some carnage.

Deeper inside, you'll face waves of enemies. Clear them out, and you'll disable a barrier blocking the platforms leading up to Zavala. The commander gives you a nod and ushers you past—he's mentally prepping for the ritual ahead. Before you head to the ritual site, keep your eyes peeled for an Egregore plant. Shoot it, and you'll get a buff that lets you pass through a pipe a couple of steps back. Trust me, you don't want to miss this.

Shooting the Egregore plant to pass through the pipe

Once you're through, it's time for the ceremony—and the final boss encounter. This fight can get hectic, so bring your best add-clearing weapons and maybe a void resistance mod. I went in with a Well of Radiance and a sword, and it worked like a charm. After you down the boss, the Sever activity is complete.

Now, don't log off just yet. Head back to the HELM and speak to Zavala about what went down. The guy finally comes to terms with his choices, and it's a pretty emotional moment. Then, finish the questline by reporting to Eris at the Crown of Sorrow. With Zavala's Severance Ritual finished, we're one step closer to shutting off Calus's connection to the Darkness.

A few final tips: this is legacy content now (we're in 2026, after all), so you might find it easier with power creep, but the mechanics are still the same. Bring a fireteam if you can—it's more fun that way. And if you're a solo player, don't panic. The enemies aren't too aggressive, and the boss has predictable patterns. Just take your time and enjoy the story.

So there you have it—Week 4 of Bound in Sorrow in a nutshell. It's a solid mix of puzzle-solving, combat, and character development. Zavala's redemption arc is worth the ride, and the loot isn't half bad either. Now go out there and show those Nightmares who's boss. 🎮💀🏆
